Chinese Archaic Han Style Bronze Baluster Vase
Chinese Archaic Han Style Bronze Baluster Vase
The Chinese Archaic Han Style Bronze Baluster Vase crafted in the early 1900s is a captivating piece that showcases intricate artistry and historical significance. Featuring a widening neck and a straight edge, this remarkable vase stands on a high, spreading foot, exuding a sense of grandeur. The inlaid panels on the vase depict an array of designs and ancient figures, adding to its cultural richness. The standout feature is the taota face on the side, which characteristically consists of a zoomorphic monster mask across the entire face, which can be divided, through the bridge of the nose in the middle, into views in profile of two one-legged beasts (gui dragons) confronting each other. Two beautifully cast hilts in the shape of mythical beasts attached to the shoulder and neck. A very interesting artifact!
